Philadelphia Eagles have signed Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins to a five-year contract extension. Jenkins was about to enter the final season of a three-year, $15m (£10.6m) deal he signed as a free agent in 2014 but is now signed with the Eagles through 2020. According to ESPN, Jenkins new deal includes $35m (£24.8) in new money and he will get $21m (£14.9) guaranteed. His salary cap hit for 2016, which would have been $7.1m (£5m) under his old contract, will drop to $5.6m (£4m).Jenkins new contract is the fifth multi-year deal signed by Eagles in recent weeks, as Jenkins joins tight ends Zach Ertz and Brent Celek, tackle Lane Johnson and defensive end Vinny Curry. Johnson signs new Eagles deal Lane Johnson signs six-year extension with Philadelphia Eagles I reached out to my agent at the end of the season, a few weeks back, and just really expressed to him that Philly is a team that I really want to be on for the long run, Jenkins said during a press conference on Monday.Obviously, I had one more year left before facing free agency and a lot of unknown. I told him that if the feeling was mutual, that Id love to do something long term. It went from there, and obviously Mr (Jeffrey) Lurie, Howie (Roseman) and Doug (Pederson) really felt like they started to build around players that they had already in the building. You saw some of the other guys already got extended, so it felt good to me to know that I was on that list of players that they felt they could start to build around to win a championship, and like I said that feeling was mutual and Im really looking forward to the opportunity. The Philadelphia Eagles have locked up tight end Zach Ertz through 2021 The 28-year-old has been one of the more consistent performers on a defence that often struggled under former coach Chip Kelly. Over the past two seasons, Jenkins led the Eagles in tackles (233), passes defended (29) and interceptions (five).Jenkins made the Pro Bowl in 2015 even though the other three starters in Philadelphias defensive backfield were new. He had 120 tackles last season.Malcolm has proven himself as a leader on and off the field, said Executive Vice President of Football Operations Howie Roseman. Young gun Tuimoala Lolohea says his return to the Warriors starting line-up for Saturdays extra-time victory over Penrith could have been better, but is a good first step. The 21-year-old showcased his trademark footwork at fullback in the 20-16 win at Mt Smart Stadium and produced an exciting run down the left flank to help create his sides first try.But he also failed to prevent a Peter Wallace 40-20 kick late in the second half and occasionally looked shaky under the high ball, dropping one Panthers bomb under pressure.Lolohea, who started on the bench in three of his sides previous four matches, told NZN he was content with his performance but knew he needed to produce more to retain his starting position.A couple errors here and there, but I just got on with the job and Im pretty happy, Lolohea said. Its the first game back for a while starting, but I feel like I performed pretty well. The Warriors wasted an eight-point lead by conceding two second-half Josh Mansour tries but came good when it counted with a piece of Shaun Johnson extra time magic.ddddddddddddJohnson shaped to kick a field goal before skipping past onrushing Panthers defenders to plant the ball over the line in the 89th minute. It was the first time the Warriors had managed to snare victory in extra-time after a streak of four golden-point matches in five games.Lolohea said Johnson was one of the few NRL players with the audacity to attempt such a move.Im speechless, how that turned out, he said. Its something only certain people can do and Shaun is one of them. The win lifts the Warriors into the top eight on points difference with five matches remaining, and Lolohea was confident his side could use the victory to build finals momentum.I felt like we were on top of them, he said.Weve just got to keep playing good footy and performing, keep getting better each week.
