DALLAS -- Tyler Seguin didnt realize he had become a part of Dallas Stars history until he looked up at the video board. Thats when he learned he had tied a team record with his third hat trick of the season, joining Mike Modano and Bill Guerin. Seguin also had two assists Thursday night as the Stars beat the Vancouver Canucks 6-1. "Until I saw it on the board, I wasnt aware," he said. He was especially pleased to be in the company of Modano, whose No. 9 will be retired at the Stars game Saturday. "Its awesome," Seguin said. "I talk a lot with him when he comes to game. He tells me a couple of things about my game." Seguin, the team leader with 29 goals, has had two of the NHLs six five-point games this season. Jamie Benn, Alex Goligoski and Ryan Garbutt also scored for Dallas, which built a 5-0 lead. Kari Lehtonen made 32 saves, and Benn and Rich Peverley each had two assists. Seguin scored twice in the first period, and completed his hat trick at 12:53 of the third by squeezing the puck through a narrow opening past Canucks backup goalie Jacob Markstrom. Vancouvers Zac Dalpe scored at 18:15 of the second period. Dallas solidified its hold on the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, improving to 9-3-2 in their last 14 goals. The fading Canucks, 11th in the West, dropped to 1-10-1 in their last 12 and fell four points behind Dallas. Vancouver coach John Tortorella said he didnt believe his team quit. "I still think there is the people in (the locker room) that can help us pull through this and were going to keep on going about it each day." Canucks goalie Eddie Lack stopped only 12 of 17 shots before Markstrom replaced him. Markstrom, acquired earlier this week in the trade that sent Roberto Luongo to Florida, had four saves. "It feels like were ready when the game starts, and then we kind of just collapsed today," Lack said. "For me, I kind of just have to look at myself tonight ... and have to be better." Benn put in a rebound 2:57 into the game after Lack had stopped Seguins backhand. Seguin scored the second goal on a power play. He took a pass from Alex Chiasson behind the Canucks defence and fired into the upper right corner from in front of the net. "That was a big message before tonights game, was our starts," Seguin said. The Stars had been outscored 6-0 in the first period of their previous three games. Even at 2-0, the lead appeared safe against a team that has scored only nine goals in its last eight games. Seguin made it 3-0 at 11:59, taking a pass off the boards from Peverley and turning and one-timing a shot between Lack and the right goal post. "The one he rips from the wall in the first period found a way to go in," Dallas coach Lindy Ruff said. "You could just say its never a bad play to get it on net. "His late one, for the hat trick, you wonder how it goes in, but it went in. (Vernon Fiddler) said on the bench, Those never go in for me. It is funny how sometimes goal scorers find ways to put them in the holes." The shots on goal, eight for each team, did not reflect Dallas domination of the first period. The Stars began the second on a 5-minute power play. Vancouvers Zack Kassian received a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct for a hit on Brenden Dillon in front of the Canucks bench with 1:30 left in the first period. With that man advantage, Dallas took a 4-0 lead at 2:20 of the second. Ray Whitney passed from behind the goal line to defenceman Goligoski low in the right faceoff circle. He shot into the near side of the net. Seguin assisted on the goal. At 12:08, Goligoski passed across to Garbutt on the left side, and his goal increased the lead to 5-0. Goligoski said, "We came in more focused. We knew these guys have had a tough time scoring goals, so we needed to bury a few early." Dalpe scored a power-play goal late in the period to get the Canucks on the board with a shot that hit Lehtonen as he tried to recover his position. The teams again were tied in shots, with nine each. Vancouver outshot Dallas 16-5 in the third period. NOTES: Dillon left the ice after Kassians hit, but returned for the second period. ... Goligoski has a goal in each of the last three games after scoring only twice in his first 59 games this season. "Its a case of being in the right place at the right time," he said. Dallas defencemen have totalled six goals in those three games. ... Benn has two goals and seven assists in his last six games. ... Lack, starting for the Canucks for the fifth consecutive game, had allowed 1.25 goals per game for the first four. Roy Oswalt Jersey . The Bears went 5-11 in a mostly miserable season, never challenging for the NFC North lead after the first few weeks as quarterback Jay Cutler and the rest of the offence struggled mightily. We expect excellence, chairman George McCaskey said. What they got was something different, and even McCaskeys mother, Virginia McCaskey, had enough.Shes (ticked) off, George McCaskey said after about a 10-second pause when asked about his mother. I cant think of a 91-year-old woman that that description would apply to, but in this case, I cant think of a more accurate description. Shes been on this Earth for eight of the Bears nine championships, and she wants more. She feels that its been too long since the last one, and that dissatisfaction is shared by her children, her grandchildren and her-great grandchildren. Shes fed up with mediocrity. She feels that she and Bears fans everywhere deserve better. It was clear as the season wore on, with fan unrest growing, that change was coming. The question was how far up the ladder it would go.The Bears also fired offensive co-ordinator Aaron Kromer. Defensive co-ordinator Mel Tucker is still officially under contract, although he is expected to be let go given the way the Bears struggled under him the past two seasons. The Bears hired former New York Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi as a consultant to help with the search for a general manager and coach. But ultimately, it will be McCaskey and President and CEO Ted Phillips making the call. This job was an opportunity of a lifetime, Emery said in a brief session with reporters. My only regret is that we didnt win enough games for that opportunity to continue.Emery did not take questions from reporters.Trestman, in a statement issued through the team, thanked the McCaskey family for the opportunity to coach the Bears.McCaskey said he is happy with the current chain of command, which has the coach reporting to the GM and the GM to the president. He said the McCaskey family has complete faith in Phillips but did not rule out the possibility of removing him from the football side of the operation.Phillips said there is no timeline for the hires but did say the Bears would move with a sense of urgency. Accorsi has already provided a list of GM candidates. The Bears did not rule out hiring a coach first. The new GM and coach have a big decision to make with quarterback Jay Cutler. He tied Philip Rivers for the league lead with 18 interceptions after signing a $126 million, seven-year contract at the end of last season. The deal, which guarantteed $54 million, would make him difficult if not impossible to trade.dddddddddddd Cutting him is also a possibility.Phillips said that will be up to the new GM and coach. But McCaskey insisted he does not regret giving Cutler that huge deal. That was a decision that Phil made with our approval, he said.Phillips said he does not expect any players to meet with potential coaching candidates as Cutler did during the last search. The house cleaning was certainly not what the Bears envisioned with a prolific offence returning intact and a rebuilt defence in tow. But little went right for Chicago this season. There were distractions throughout the year, whether it was linebacker Lance Briggs being allowed to miss practice to open a restaurant in California the week of the opener, Kromer admitting he was the NFL Networks source behind a critical report of Cutler late in the season or Cutler getting benched in favour Jimmy Clausen late in the season.Trestman surprised some by allowing star receiver Brandon Marshall to fly to New York on a weekly basis to record Showtimes Inside the NFL. Marshall, who is open about his struggles with borderline personality disorder, had an off year and at one point gave a rambling news conference over past allegations of domestic abuse. He also challenged a Detroit fan on Twitter to a boxing match for charity, and reporters standing in the hallway overheard him screaming in the locker room after a loss to Miami at Soldier Field in October that raised all sorts of questions about where the team was headed. We didnt have a successful year as players. So the coaches didnt have a successful year, tight end Martellus Bennett said. I think everybody has their hand in the pot. And the gumbo doesnt taste that great when everybodys hand is in the pot.As for Emery, the decision to replace Lovie Smith with Trestman — who at times seemed overmatched in his first NFL head coaching job after winning two titles with the CFLs Montreal Alouettes — backfired. The fact that the man he passed over for the job, Bruce Arians, led Arizona to the playoffs made it even worse.Giving Cutler a big contract after last season when the franchise player tag was an option is looking like another mistake. Emery did have success rebuilding the offensive line before the 2013 season. But the makeover he gave the defence, bringing in Jared Allen among others, last off-season did not pay off. The Bears allowed 442 points, the second most in franchise history behind a team-record 478 last season. They joined the 1923 Rochester Jeffersons as the only teams to give up 50 or more in back-to-back games.Emery also had a spotty draft record.Something has to change, veteran cornerback Tim Jennings said. Im not surprised by it. I mean, hopefully it will be a good one this time._____Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP_NFLAuthentic Bills JerseysDolphins Stitched JerseysCheap Patriots JerseysWholesale Jets JerseysWholesale Texans JerseysCheap Colts JerseysJaguars Jerseys StoreAuthentic Titans JerseysAuthentic Broncos JerseysAuthentic Chiefs JerseysCheap Raiders JerseysChargers Jerseys StoreCheap Ravens JerseysWholesale Bengals JerseysCheap Browns JerseysSteelers Jerseys StoreWholesale Cowboys JerseysWholesale Giants JerseysAuthentic Eagles JerseysCheap Redskins JerseysAuthentic Falcons JerseysPanthers Jerseys StoreWholesale Saints JerseysAuthentic Buccaneers JerseysWholesale Cardinals JerseysCheap 49ers JerseysSeahawks Jerseys StoreWholesale Rams JerseysWholesale Bears JerseysAuthentic Lions JerseysCheap Packers JerseysVikings Jerseys Store ' ' '
