SEATTLE -- Baltimore Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez was on the ropes two weeks ago, when another short outing in a 13-3 loss to Toronto left him with a 7.34 ERA and a shaky future. Jimenezs spot in the rotation was in jeopardy, and it was going to take a solid start or two for the Orioles to keep relying on him.Jimenez delivered with solid outings in back-to-back outings, so hell be on the mound again when the Orioles close out the Seattle series on Sunday afternoon.Ubaldos had two good outings in a row, manager Buck Showalter said, so we hope that continues.Baltimores rotation could get a facelift around the All-Star break, and Jimenez isnt the only Orioles starter on thin ice. Right-hander Tyler Wilson endured the worst start of his young career Saturday night, when he got tagged for eight runs off nine hits, three of which were homers, over three innings in a 12-6 loss to Seattle. The Orioles, who came into the Seattle series on the high of a seven-game winning streak, have fallen on hard times to the tune of three losses in a row. The good news was that Baltimores offense started to show signs of life after the fourth inning Saturday night.Showalter was more concerned with his over-taxed pitching staff, which had to use four pitchers to get through the win after Wilson only got nine outs.Weve just not been able to get deep in games with our starters, Showalter said.Seattle is hoping veteran starter Hisashi Iwakuma (7-6, 4.34 ERA) can continue Baltimores offensive struggles. Iwakuma has history with the Orioles, having thrown his only no-hitter against Baltimore last August. It was a significant game in my career, Iwakuma told The News Tribune of Tacoma (Wash.) through an interpreter on Saturday. But thats in the past, and (Sunday) is a different ball game.Iwakuma has given up 10 home runs over his past six starts, so there is reason for the Orioles to believe that their late offensive awakening Saturday might continue into the series finale.Baltimore (47-33) has only been swept once all season, and that came in a three-game series at Houston in late May. The last time the Orioles lost every game of a four-game series came last August, when the Minnesota Twins swept them in Baltimore.Seattles three-game winning streak has given the Mariners renewed hope after a rough June. Saturdays win pulled Seattle (42-39) within 9 1/2 games of Texas in the AL West and 1 1/2 back in the wild-card standings. This is a time we need to win some games and finish the first half on a good note, said Mariners left fielder Seth Smith, who has homered in each of the first three games of the series.Seattle has won three in a row for the first time since May 19-22. A win Sunday would match the Mariners longest winning streak of the season, at four games. Marshon Lattimore Saints Jersey . The (11-11-4) Jets are seventh in the Central Division with 26 points. Fifth place Dallas and sixth-seeded Nashville also have 26 points, but the Stars have three games in hand on Winnipeg while Nashville has two. Alvin Kamara Youth Jersey . Argentina winger Ezequiel Lavezzi and France midfielder Blaise Matuidi scored, with star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic setting up both despite having a poor game by his high standards. Forward Eduardo gave Ajaccio the lead in the sixth minute after being set up by right winger Benjamin Andre, and the Corsican side looked comfortable in the first half, with the lively Johan Cavalli causing problems with his probing runs from midfield. Cameron Jordan Saints Jersey . The team also announced Tuesday that the Braves will wear a commemorative patch on the right sleeve during the season. The patch, shaped like home plate, carries the number 715, Aarons autograph and a "40th Anniversary" banner.ANAHEIM, California - Sergio Santos is back with the Blue Jays and when he toed the rubber in the sixth inning of Thursdays 8-2 loss to the Angels, it marked the first time Santos has pitched for Toronto in a month other than April. In two injury-plagued seasons, including Thursday nights two innings of work, Santos has appeared in only 12 games for the Blue Jays for a total of 11 1/3 innings. Shoulder surgery shut him down in 2012. What began as a triceps problem this season morphed into surgery to shave down bone spurs in his pitching elbow. He hasnt pitched since April 13 in Kansas City but Santos says there will be no holding back. “Im going in and I only know one way and thats to go hard and thats what Im going to do,” said Santos. “As far as the maintenance stuff, Im going to be smart about that and obviously pay attention to my body a little bit more than I have in the past and to know that quality of work is better than the quantity of work. Just trying to figure that out.” “Hes here to pitch,” said manager John Gibbons. “We need him to. We cant baby him.” The Blue Jays didnt rush Santos back. He came two days short of maxing out his 30-day minor league rehabilitation assignment and made 12 appearances for three different teams. In six appearances for Triple-A Buffalo, Santos pitched six innings and allowed five earned runs. The results werent there but, for the most part, results arent what rehabbing pitchers concern themselves with up against developing hitters. “Ill flip some good pitches in whether its a good changeup, good slider, my fastball location Ive been pretty pleased and happy with the whole time in my rehab innings,” said Santos.dddddddddddd “Everything works off the fastball and if I can build off that hopefully I can have some clean innings.” To make room for Santos return, reliever Dustin McGowan was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique. Brandon Morrow, out since late May with a compressed nerve in his right forearm, was transferred to the 60-day disabled list to accommodate Santos spot on the 40-man roster. McGowan was injured on Monday in Oakland. He pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief in that game but first felt the pain in the sixth while pitching to Yoenis Cespedes. McGowan got two more outs in that inning, then faced three hitters in the seventh before being removed from the game. Given the Blue Jays history with oblique injuries – Brandon Morrow missed significant time last season and Brett Lawrie has missed parts of 2012 and 2013 – theres no telling how long McGowan will be out. With that in mind, would Gibbons have preferred McGowan speak up when he felt the tweak? “Well, you know, hes different though,” said Gibbons. “Hes been hurt so much hes pretty tired of being hurt. But youve got to be smart with that because that can linger. That can turn into a long term deal.” Meantime, after the game, Melky Cabrera was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a recurrence of the knee problem which has plagued him for much of the season. Cabrera was lifted from the game in the fourth inning. Reliever Neil Wagner has been recalled from Buffalo. ' ' '
